Growing Up In The Business: I guess you can say I grew up with real estate. My mother has been a Realtor for almost 40 years. I remember her taking her clients from house to house and negotiating deals on the phone, in her car, and at our house. I learned a lot from watching and listening to my mother. I was fascinated when there was a problem and would become mesmerized on how the deal would play out. It became my first reality show. I always knew I would be a Realtor too! Concern For People : I learned early about success from competitive swimming and coaching. The daily practice and determination on an individual level drove home a sense of responsibility. Teamwork helped build a sense of pride and provided a great resource base. I quickly learned at an early age how motivation is needed for success on the individual and the team level. After graduating from the University of Georgia, I worked for the Shepherd Center for over 5 years. I worked with individuals and their families who had spinal cord and brain injuries. The main part of my job was to teach these patients how to overcome physical and environmental obstacles so they could enjoy and maintain the best quality of life and reclaim an independent lifestyle after their injuries. When I left the Shepherd Center to start my career in real estate, I naturally integrated what I had learned as a swimmer, coach, and especially what I learned from working at the catastrophic hospital in Atlanta. Everybody is different and everybody has different needs. This is true in real estate as well. Every transaction, every buyer and every seller is different.
